BACKSTORY

Ilessa has worked as Captain of the Royal Guard since the beginning of King Arthur and the late Queen Marianne's rule. Following the Queen's death, she became Prince Duffy and Prince Nigel's chief caretaker; a role which their father could not maintain with his own royal duties.

As it were, Duffy acclimated poorly following his mother's loss, while Nigel was far too young to truly remember the event. Prince Nigel was designated the heir to throne, and his older brother was frequently kept under Ilessa's watch, not to leave the castle walls. For the past decade, Ilessa has taken a role as Prince Duffy's consultant, his mentor, and most importantly, his mother.
